THE STATE VS. YOUR STATE (ON FEELING OUR ART AS AN AUTONOMOUS SOURCE OF SOCIAL, POLITICAL, & ECONOMIC POWER WITH AN INNATE SEDUCTIVE FORCE)

Between 1666 & 1676, the female mystical Protestant poet & theologian Katharina von Greiffenberg visited the Catholic Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire no fewer than 6 times.

Each time, her intent was to personally persuade him to convert to her faith.

His explicitly anti-Protestant policies & devout Catholicism did not deter her.

The history of the brutal & bloody Thirty Years’ War between Catholics and Protestants, which had just ended in 1648, did not deter her.

When after the 6th visit she had not yet convinced him, she concluded, undaunted, that God had a different plan for her & for the Emperor.

You can also see why a 20th century literary historian remarked on her “Promethean self-understanding” when it came to what an author can do with words.

 

In 2026 we may have empire but it is not always clear which emperor we would visit & to what end.

As Ted Lasso puts it when asked if it's ok to pray for his football team, "Yeah, of course. But to which god and in what language, you know?"

In the Lyceum, we set aside these questions & simply make ourselves available to move & be moved in service of collective emergence.

And we do so regardless of the short-term success or failure of any of our attempts.

We are the creators of the world. We are the leaders we have been waiting for.

What we practice together in the Council:

1. Emergent Scaling & Emergent Institution-Building

You’ve been told scaling involves imposing your solution on more & more of the market & removing yourself from your offerings & being less connected with the people you help.

Basically duplicating you while erasing difference & uniqueness among your audience.

You’ve been told that “simple scales & complex fails”.

Schools, universities, & religions, philosophers, bards & medicine people have been ‘scaling’ since the year 0. (time immemorial)

It is a process of mutation, re + pro(creation), & mixing — of integrated complexity.

In the Council we know the true question of scaling a business is this:

• how do I become intimate with more of reality?

And therefore:

• What is perhaps not 'universal' but translate-able or liberate-able or mutate-able in what I am already doing?
• What am I doing that can be used further, by others in slightly or somewhat or even massively different circumstances (while still bearing fruit for them)?

 

2. Creative Power & Collective Emergence

You know you want your reach to be greater. You know you want to magnetize and transform more and more of the world into your vortex, you want to transform landscapes and entire ways of life.

You want to attract opportunities and recognition and inspire change in the greater world. Not by chasing it but by embodying it & growing in accordance with it.

It is no longer sufficient to have our spaces on the outskirts of a wasteland of mass culture.

In The Council, we are talking about revivifying the common world by magnetizing defection & transformation at ever more rapid rates.

We no longer resent the mainstream, we assume our weirdness is an object of extreme eros & magnetism & that the mainstream exists to complement us rather than to antagonize us

 

3. Communing with the Voices of the Ancients

In the Council, we use fiction, art, history, and theory to think about what is being asked of us in the present moment.

We assume that the best + in fact only way to scale our businesses is to ask what the future we desire is asking us to create right g-d now.

We do not view imagination & art as separate from politics, money, or collective life. They are coterminous.

We are working at the level of the collective unconscious. The effect of this work is total, yet “intangible”.

This is a space for people who know that they need this level online, in order to really work at any level.

2. BECOME A SPONSORED PEDAGOGY FELLOW OF THE LYCEUM

Pedagogy Fellow $1111 $777 / 12 months @ $77 / mo

(you are effectively receiving a 50% scholarship to the Council in compensation for your service to the Lyceum)

Your responsibilities:

In The Council, you will get access to my entire body of work, past, present & future.

You will gain access to monthly week-long Telegram immersions with a workbook.

But the REAL experience is this: you will be invited & required to co-create 4 Emergent Summits together with me & under my guidance over the course of a year. We will run these summits in August, November, February, and May.

We will practice selling these summits together (led & supported & guided by me) & at them you will practice the Pedagogy of the Present & bring your body of work rapidly & gently into the world.

A NOTE ON THE “RETURN ON INVESTMENT”

Please note, investing in the Council =/= owning a capital stake in The Lyceum.

It is more like belonging to an affiliation.

Your “ROI” is in community, influence, the way your creative power grows internally & externally through exchange with the Lyceum.

The summit, too, is not a shortcut for gaining followers or clients. I am not committed to “making it a big deal” or growing a big following.

It is rather a manifestation of our collective power, no matter who arrives “from the outside.”

It is, first and foremost, for us.
